In 1994 I purchased a soap making book and dove right in. I was running an afterschool program for the Y so I had some extra time on my hands. There were a few failures at first, but soon I got really good at making soap and the stuff felt amazing on my skin! Soap was quickly taking over our home so in 1995 I started selling it to parents and teachers. When they kept coming back for more I knew I was on to something. I loved my job but making soap was so much quieter! I quit to pursue soap making full time and the rest is history. Now 3 other family members have joined me and AWSB is truly a family affair. Our pure and natural products feature wild, native North American plants. 100% of our base oils are certified organic and we only use sustainable palm oil that doesn't harm the rainforest. To give back, AWSB is a member of 1% For The Planet who verifies that we donate 1% of our annual gross sales to approved environmental non-profits. We try to be mindful of every purchase we make and every action we take as we strive to support fair trade, organic, and sustainable businesses.
